Venue, Accommodations, and Travel
The 2019 Summer National Conference will be held in beautiful Bozeman, Montana. This fast-growing mountain community is tucked away in Montana’s Gallatin Valley, just an hour’s drive north of Yellowstone National Park. People come from all over the planet to visit this iconic part of the world, and to enjoy Bozeman’s friendly vibe, unique cultural resources, and easy access to intact natural habitats.
The 2019 conference will be centered in Norm Asbjornson Hall at Montana State University. This beautiful LEED-Certified facility, designed in collaboration with the MSU School of Engineering, is in the final stages of completion. We’ll be among the first groups to host an event there — and the view from our meeting room on the northeast corner of the building will include a stunning panorama of the Gallatin Valley and fabled Bridger Mountains. This will be an inspiring and highly functional new space for our conference.
We have a room block reserved at Element Bozeman in downtown Bozeman. They offer a variety of rooms and rates, beginning at $260 nightly. Ask for the Habitat X room block to get the best rate, or click here to go directly to the Habitat X registration page.
The hotel is a 25-minute walk or $9 Uber ride to the conference facility in the Norm Asbjornson Hall on the MSU campus. It’s also directly across the street from the Streamline bus stop, with direct service to the campus. If you want to pedal, they’ll loan you a bike and helmet. And the Element is the one hotel in town that offers free shuttle service to and from the airport. We’ve designed this conference so you don’t need to rent a car unless you want to go exploring outside the Gallatin Valley.
And the good news about the 2019 venue? You can come work and play with us for three days, and stay at one of our excellent hotels or short term rentals, for no more that the cost of attending one of the other big national conferences where you’ll get lost in the masses and stuck in a hotel. Do the math — this will be a career changing event for most attendees, and the cost is very reasonable.

AirBnB and VRBO Options
Bozeman is blessed with an ample supply of short-term rentals for travelers. In many cases, you can find these homes and apartments at rates equal to or lower than nearby hotels. They become even more economical if you’re interested in sharing a home or large apartment with other conference participants.
We’ve set up maps that show likely short-term rentals on AirBnB and VRBO. But we offer this caveat: these types of accommodations will be in high demand in the month of June, and they’ll be quickly depleted once travelers start planning for summer vacation. If renting a short-term rental is your plan, we recommend that you reserve your space as soon as possible.
Air and Car Travel
If you’ll be flying to Summer National, the best airport is Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN). It’s 11 miles from the airport to downtown Bozeman, with plenty of taxis and ample Uber service. If you’re staying at the Element Hotel, they offer a free shuttle from the airport.
There is ample free parking at the hotel and at the conference center.
