Archive: The 2014 Summer National Conference was held at the incomparable Chico Hot Springs. It’s tucked away in Montana’s Paradise Valley, just a few miles North of Yellowstone National Park. People come from all over the planet to stay in the classy hotel, eat at the award-winning restaurant, and relax in the natural hot pools. They have a beautiful set of conference rooms, hotel rooms of every type, and dining options that range from burgers-at-the-bar or by the pool, to four courses and a white tablecloth in the famous restaurant.

The Accommodations

Room types at Chico Hot Springs vary from single rooms in the historic Main Lodge to standalone houses that sleep 6. Our room block includes a variety of room types from economical and simple rooms in the Main Lodge ($59-$98), to contemporary rooms in the Fisherman’s Lodge, Warren’s Wing, and Lower Lodge ($134-$209). A limited number of cabins, cottages, and chalets ($105-$269) are available for small groups, families, or those who simply want to be a little farther from the hubbub of the main buildings.

Many attendees will bring their families, and come before the conference or stay late to take in the sights. When you register for the conference, we’ll send you a packet of information to help you plan your vacation. We hope you can carve out some time in August to come to Montana — do yourself a favor and join us!

Air and Car Travel

If you’ll be flying to Summer National, the best airport is Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN). It’s 58 miles from Chico, a one-hour drive through some of the most beautiful scenery anywhere. If you plan to spend extra days touring Montana during the conference, we recommend that you rent a car. If you’d like to simply travel to the conference by the most economical means, we’ve set up a ride-share board so you can connect to other conference goers who will travel to and from the airport. Drop us a line here if you’d like to be added to the ride-share list.

The Best Travel Dates

The Summer National Conference begins Monday August 25th at 8:30 am and continues through Thursday August 28th at 4:00 pm. The Habitat X events are designed to be continuous and all-inclusive experiences, so we recommend that you attend for the entire time. When making airline reservations, we recommend that the latest you should arrive is Sunday August 24, and the earliest you should leave is Friday August 29. But our best recommendation is to carve out some extra time if you can to stay and look around this amazing part of the world.
